What we collect & why

  • Account & profile — When you sign up we store your email (for login) and the profile details you provide: callsign, handle, display name, bio, avatar photo, station setup (type, rig, power output, antenna info) and your location (place name and coordinates). From your coordinates we also derive your country and show a small country flag next to your name in public lists such as the league table, operators map and “online now” list. You control what's shown publicly with per-field privacy toggles. We also record when you accepted this Privacy Policy.
  • Logged contacts (QSOs) — Each contact you log: callsign, operator name, channel, frequency, linked antenna, location and origin location (names and coordinates), contact type, notes, favourite status and timestamps.
  • Antennas & equipment — Your equipment library: antenna name, type, gain (dBi), height and notes.
  • CB radio nets you host — If you create a net we store its title, description, channel, band, mode and frequency, schedule (date, time, duration, timezone and recurrence), location name and coordinates, and its visibility setting. Nets you set to public are listed in our public CB Nets directory, where non-members can see the net title, schedule, channel and your handle.
  • Net participation — When you take part in nets we record your RSVPs (your “going” status and who, if anyone, invited you), on-air check-ins (the callsign and any note you add for each session), reminders you set, and post-net summaries such as attendance counts.
  • Events (meet-ups, eyeballs & gatherings) — If you create an event we store its title, description, event type, schedule (date, time, duration, timezone and recurrence), location name and coordinates, an optional display-only ticket price, a featured image and its visibility setting. We also record event participation: your RSVP status and who, if anyone, invited you. Events you set to public are visible to other signed-in operators.
  • Eyeballed confirmations — If you and another operator confirm having met in real life, we store a record linking the two accounts together with the request and confirmation status and timestamps.
  • Badges, achievements & activity — We record achievement badges awarded to your account, login-streak activity used to award some of them, and a log of certain in-app actions (such as the action taken and a short summary) used to power achievements and activity features. Earned badges are shown on your profile.
  • Reviews — If you write a review of the app from your dashboard we store your star rating and review text. If an administrator approves it, your review may be shown publicly — together with your name — on our homepage and on our public reviews page, and included in structured data (review schema) used by search engines. You can ask us to remove a published review at any time.
  • Direct messages between operators — Direct messaging is off by default; you choose whether to let other operators message you. When you take part in a conversation we store the messages exchanged, their read status and timestamps, and which operators you have blocked. You can archive or permanently delete a conversation at any time — deleting removes the conversation and its messages for both participants.
  • Online presence — While you are using the app, your “online now” status is shared in real time with other signed-in operators so they can see who is available to message. This status is not stored after you leave the app.
  • Notifications — If you turn on browser/push notifications, we store the notification subscription token your browser provides so we can send you alerts. You can revoke this at any time in your browser or device settings.
  • Support messages — If you message us through the app, we store the conversation (subject, message contents and read status) so we can support you and reply.
  • Contact form — If you message us through the contact page we store your name, email and message so we can reply.
  • Third-party processors — Location search uses Google Places and our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA (Google LLC). Maps are displayed with OpenStreetMap / CARTO tiles. Account and notification emails are sent through our email provider. Some in-app content, such as broadcast notices, may be sent to our AI provider to generate translations. These providers act as processors on our behalf; some, like Google and our AI provider, may process data outside the EU/UK under appropriate safeguards.
  • Cookies & consent — We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and run the app. Non-essential third parties (Google reCAPTCHA) only load after you accept cookies in the banner. You can change your choice by clearing the consent stored in your browser.
  • Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6) — We process your account, logbook, antennas, nets, net participation, events, direct messages and profile to provide the service you asked for (contract). Public map visibility, public net and event listings, eyeballed confirmations, accepting direct messages, sharing your online status, publishing your review, push notifications and non-essential cookies rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Spam protection and securing the service rely on our legitimate interests.
  • Data retention — We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, contacts, antennas, nets, net participation, events and event participation, eyeballed records, reviews, badges, activity records, roles, direct messages, blocks, notification subscriptions and photos are removed immediately. Contact-form messages and support messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Unsubscribe records are retained to honour your opt-out.
  • How your data is protected — Your logbook, antennas, profile, private nets and messages are private to your account by default and secured with row-level access controls. Direct messages are visible only to the two operators in the conversation. Only the limited profile fields you explicitly choose to share appear on the public operators map, and only nets and events you set to public appear in their public listings, and only reviews approved by an administrator appear publicly.

Your rights under GDPR

  • Access — request a copy of your data (use 'Export my data' on your profile).
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable JSON or CSV file.
  • Rectification — edit your profile, contacts, antennas, nets and events at any time.
  • Erasure — delete individual records, delete direct-message conversations, remove a published review, or delete your whole account via 'Delete my account'.
  • Restriction & objection — limit or object to certain processing, including the public map, public net and event listings, published reviews and direct messages.
  • Withdraw consent — turn off map visibility, make your nets or events private, stop accepting direct messages, turn off notifications or decline non-essential cookies at any time.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Export and account deletion are self-service from your profile. Most other requests are handled within one month. For any privacy question, to exercise a right, or to have your data removed, reach out via the contact page.
